My name is Allan Ace Adams. I grew up in Central Illinois but spent many a summer in the southern part of Illinois, down by Harrisburg. My Dad was an outdoors-man who enjoyed nature and it's beauty. From our time spent together in the woods my Grandma owned, I learned the beauty and wonder of the wild world around us. We spent many hours fishing and hunting and through that I learned to respect the wildlife all around us. I still get out there and hunt, but now days my weapon is a Nikon camera.
I always had to draw, yes, HAD to draw. From Kindergarten through High School I had a pencil in hand and paper to create on. I know I frustrated my Mom because I would rather draw than do my schoolwork, but she would also always try to convince me to use my artistic talent as a profession and DO MY Homework. Sorry Mom!
I eventually started airbrushing but the expense and time involved did not work well with my life at that time. It was during my airbrushing days when Dad really took note of what I was doing. He was always looking for new clients and jobs, hoping I would continue on that path.
I was a kid and had other things on my mind though. Sadly he did not live long enough to see my first board or my first gallery show. I know he would have enjoyed it.
I started Scratchboarding in late 2008 by the suggestion of my Good Friend Harold Farley. In the photo above, you can see one of his creations in the background. He suggested that I give it a try and that I might like it. Boy was he right on the mark. The first board I tried got me hooked. Since that day, I only pick up a pencil to sketch out a new board design.
I have a strong love for animals and hopefully that carries through to my works. I seem to be attracted to the "strange" or dangerous critters especially. The Great White Shark, Wolves, Tigers, and various others. I especially enjoy doing pet portraits. When I complete a portrait, hand it over to the client, and I see their eyes light up. I see the love they share with their pet shine through, that is the greatest feeling, as an artist, one could experience.
That just about sums up everything about me and my art so I will say Thank You for taking the time to look over my works, and I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
